Inauguration of the Honorary Consul General in Rotterdam

The Chair of RJC, Erik Geerling was already appointed for this position in January 2021. However, due to Covid the introduction ceremony was postponed until November. The ceremony with lunch was held at the Residence of the Japanese Ambassador in the Hague under the “1,5m distance” restriction with a limited number of guests. Besides Erik’s wife, Monique Stuiver and three cheerful daughters, Irene, Astrid and Yvonne who are all studying, the former mayor of Rotterdam, Mr. Ivo Opstelten, the RJC’s advisor, Jacob van der Goot, one of the RJC’s founding members, Jan-Willem Sodderland and more guests also from the Japanese business society in the Netherlands were attending the ceremony. H.E. the Ambassador Mr Hidehisa Horinouchi gave a speech, and a letter of appointment was officially handed over. Congratulations, Erik!

Previous Events

Under the gentle nice weather conditions, we enjoyed the last summer evening cruise thanks to the support from the company “Port of Rotterdam”. We welcomed Minister Myochin from the embassy of Japan and several members from Dujat – Dutch & Japanese Trade Federation. About 40 participants enjoyed the view of Rotterdam city together with tasty food and drinks on board of the vessel “De Nieuwe Maze”.
